Insects – Insects are the most common animals in your garden. They make their homes in nearly everywhere. In my garden worms, maggots, and spiders make homes in the ground. Earwigs , woodlice , Beatles , ants ,  slugs and snails under rocks or in flower pots. Bees and wasps in my Laurel Bush. And you can also see hover flies , house flies , daddy-long-legs , ladybirds , butterflies and moths around in our garden.

Birds – All the birds that come in and out of my garden are too many to count but here are just a few.

Blackbird , sparrow , blue-tit , gold-tit , chaffinch , green-finch , crow , magpie , wood-pecker , Robbin , and the best one is the Buzzard.

Thats most of the animals from my garden but the rarest ones that sometimes stay in my garden are mice and  hedgehogs. 

What you can do to attract more wildlife is to put in a bird feeder with fat balls that you can make yourself.

You can also plant more flowers to attract bees and butterflies. My recommendations are Butterfly bush , lavender and honeysuckle.

The Anaconda

The Anaconda is a snake that lives in the rainforest . It’s normal length is 7.5 meters but the largest Anaconda known was 28 feet long. It is a constrictor which means it kills it’s prey by stunning them with a bite and then wrapping round it tightly then using it’s jaws to open up very wide and swallow the prey whole. It can eat from mice to deer but it has also eaten dogs children and crocodiles!!! It’s hunting method works very well as constricting stops the preys blood pumping. Even though it lives in the rainforest some Anacondas make themselves comfortable in small towns. Anacondas can live up to 30 years.

Anaondas habitat is the swamps of the rainforests.

Anacondas give birth to 25-35 young at a time.

Hey I have decided to change my blog to an all animals blog . I got it from anoter animal blog that inspired me . I really love animals and have so much to say so as from now there will be an animal of the week post and all the extras. There might be a few non – related posts of aweosme news that I have to tell people ut apart from that it will be All Animals from here on out

Lilz the Awesome

Here are all the interesting parts of my holiday.

The first day in my garden we found a Praying Mantis, hunting in our garden. We watched it trying to eat a snail but it failed . Then we took a film of it performing a threat display when a stick was waved slowly in-front of it. It’s hooked, dagger like arms rose up, as did it’s tail showing the wings and it made a hissing sound that imitated a snake. The Praying Mantis eats other insects using it’s hook’s on it’s arms. Even during mating the female eats the male’s head! Even though it only eats insects it, if provoked , can attack and harm a human being. This Praying Mantis stayed in our garden for all the time we were there.

Later on in the evening me and my family went to a resteraunt where I found a lot of lizards and one cleverly coloured gecko that changed colour to fit in to the yellow brick wall. When we got to the resteraunt I got a giant ice-cream with chocolate sauce.

The next day I went to Lagos a big town with lots of people and interesting shops. I went and bought a few things and then had lunch at a hotel buffet, YUM YUM!

On that same day in the morning we phoned up my friend tamsin and family to meet up. We decided that we would meet tomorrow. We met up at the beach ( zaviel) where I did my first proper body-boarding this week. We had lunch at Zaviel cafe then went to Tamzin’s villa to stay for a barbecue dinner. Me, Tamsin and alice, my little sister,  went into her pool and had a great time. Then we played darts and table tennis and explored her garden before dinner. The BBQ was very tasty and everyone was chatting exept Alice who fell asleep. It was a wonderful night.

One day our neighbor and grandad’s friend Jhon came for tea. He is a farmer from England and has a villa just like grandad which he goes for long holidays in. Dinner was great as usual and as a treat , we had chocolate mousse.

One day we decided to go to Monchiche as we do every year in Portugal. It is a one hour journey into the mountains. When we arrived we went for a walk around the hills. It is very pretty with a small river and flowers and trees and old wells and waterfalls. The best thing about this walk is there are loads of crickets, grasshoppers and locusts everywhere. There were also wild cats in the trees.

After we had finished the walk we drove up the mountain to a special resteraunt to have a big meal. It has really good waiters and the view outside is perfect. After the meal we drove to a pottery shop where I bought a white pottery dove and also somthing for my grandparents back home.

We invited Tamsin and family round to our place for dinner. First in the afternoon Tamsin and her mum came early for Tamsin to play in the pool with us. We used the whale float and somehow managed to all 3 of us get on to it. Dad managed to get a picture before we all fell off.  When the rest of Tamsin’s family came we had a great stew that dad cooked. Then we all had ice-creams before the evening light faded.

Me and my family went to Lagos again for a market. First a fish market with all kinds of fish some were kept alive in  tanks like Crabs and Lobsters and the rest were killed and spread out on the icy tables. There were place , salmon , squid , sardines , octopuss , swordfish and loads that I cant name. Then we went to the market that specialises in fruit, vegtables , live animals , Honey , jam and flowers. There were all kinds of things here some of the weirdest things were pigions in a cage that someone was selling also chickens , rabbits and guiniua – pigs were there. After the market was over we went to the bakeries and went home.

This day was probably the best day here. It was the day we went to Zoomarine a water park with loads of animals , rides and shows. We got up early and arrived at about 10 o’ clock. We saw the dolphin show first. It contained 6-7 dolphins that could do all sorts of tricks like jump out of the water, clap, blow bubbles on command, back flip out of the water, push their trainers around using their noses, rescue people and dance in pairs. The best trick was when 2 dolphins jumped high out of the water with their trainer and she kicked a ball that was hanging really high up. After that we went too see some animals in the mini zoo the cutest thing there was a baby tortoise that was following it’s mother around. It walked right up to me and I touched it! Then we saw the seal show where seals and sea-lions performed in a show with their 2 trainers. It was about people searching for treasure in an island where no one is there except seals. The seals helped them find the treasure in the end. It was very funny and the best part was when one man was hiding from the other with the treasure map and hid with my family in the audience. He wore Alice’s hat and hugged dad and said that we were his family.

Then we went to the Aquarium and took pictures of all the interesting fish that were there I particularly liked the sharks and rays. You could touch some of the sea creatures too. I touched a starfish , a sea slug , a sea urchin and an anemone.Then I went on a ride with mum called the Pirate Boat where the boat swings higher and higher until you feel dizzy.I also went on a roller coaster with Alice. Then we had lunch which ,for me, was burger and chips.

After that we went on some more rides and went to see the Birds of Prey show. It contained a range of birds, some from Portugal but most from exotic countries and jungles. One of the birds was called a Hornbill and it could catch a grape when someone through it in the air. My little sister Alice got chosen to the the grape and my dad filmed her. That’s twice in 1 day!

It was the afternoon now and my family went on a Rapid river boat ride where we all got soaked. Especially dad and grandad. After I had done that ride about 6 times we went to the place where there were swimming pools and spent the last few hours there. Then it was time to leave.

We spent our last day at the beach it was a bit windy and the sea was too rough so we spent our time making boats and pools in the sand. We made a motor boat first with a steering wheel and seats. Then we made a paddling pool and a giant barrier so that the waves couldn’t get in, they got pretty close though. 

For dinner me and my family had a special last meal and whilst we were walking down Alice and I spotted a toad that was trying to hop up a wall. When we got there I ordered a drink and a meat kabab. It had turkey , veel and pork yum yum. It was amazing! Then for dessert I had an Ice – cream sundae with chocolate sauce. It’s my favourite!!

It was quite sad when I left but I couldn’t wait to get back to my blog to tell people about it

It is now only 4 days until I go to Portugal! Is is my favourite holiday in the world.
